Description/Inspiration:
This Child's Robe was in design and color Orange inspired by the Indigenous Boarding School children buried across North America. The children are represented by the figures at the bottom of the robe. The tepee represents the Homelands. The two children on either side represents the children found and being returned home. The tiny orange hand prints represent the little ones who have not been found yet. The white doves on folded part at the top represent children that have been returned to their homelands where their spirits may finally find peace.
Artist Bio/Statement:
Aha! I am Miha Xege, Faded Woman, I am Jiwere-Nut'achi. I am Tamara Faw Faw, I am Otoe-Missouria. I am an Indigenous Artist that specializes my art within tribal history language and regalia. I like to utilize many different forms of art to create my work, fabric, paper, illustrations and graphic design.
I concentrate my efforts into bringing back to life what was once lost and forgotton.
It's my way to honor the Ancestors. Aha!
