Artist Bio/Statement:

Michael Toya is of Jemez Pueblo descent and at a young age, it was certain that he was to become an artist! Being exposed to traditional artwork , through familial ties, prompted Michael to stay focused in pursuing his dream in becoming an artist.

Michael is a self taught artist creating works in various mediums. Michael infuses his cultural interpreted designs of spiritual symbolism into every single piece. Michael has also dabbled into creating pop-culture art highlighting some of his favorite iconic figures with Indigenous flair. With a pleasant sight, Michael's works also offers motivational strength and purpose giving the viewer energy. -One customer recently said "the spirit of who Michael is and what he expresses, is evident in his art!"

Michael was awarded second place, in best of painting, at the annual Autry Indian Market in Los Angeles, CA and received honorable mention at the SWAIA Indian Market the previous year. Michael's intention is to seek new heights in his path of creating and educating everyone about what his art represents. "Mother Earth and Father Sky are very sacred to my people.
