Artist Bio/Statement:

My name is Kathleen Tom-Garcia, I am an enrolled member of the DINE (Navajo) Nation. My Clan is "Bitterwater" born for "Redhouse" originally from Pinon. I currently reside in Chandler, AZ., for 25 years. During the Pandemic in 2021, Phoenix Indian Center Culture provided a class on "How to make a RED RIBBON" host by Agnes Woodward. I learned the history of the ribbon skirts, how to make a skirt, and the meaning of the "RED RIBBON" skirt. It's now over a year later, I've entered Fashion Shows, received recognition, and flourished into a small business that is becoming noticed among many Indigenous Artists. Many of the skirt are displayed on my Facebook page: "KAThleen"s Design".
