Description/Inspiration:

When I first saw the material for this skirt I instantly thought of a kaleidoscope. The beauty of the inside of the kaleidoscope is always there waiting for movement and light. And when that happens all the beauty of the ever changing color schemes come to life as they do their own dance. One day, when this skirt makes it's way to it's owner, it will dance it's first dance. And it will be beautiful.

Artist Bio/Statement:

Boozhoo. Hi. My name is Jamie Ford. I am Ojibwe and my doodem is makwa. I am bear clan. I am an enrolled member of my tribe and reside on the reservation where I am from which is Waaswaaganing, Lac du Flambeau Wisconsin. My people are rich in traditional ways of hunting, gathering, and taking care of one another. The art that I am submitting is wearable in the form of a ribbon skirt. We wear our ribbon skirts for various reasons. But we all have one reason in common and that is the pride that we feel when we wear them. We are still here, beautiful and strong as ever.
