Artist Statement:

Hello my name is Brian Taaffe, I come from the Red Willow People of Taos Pueblo. My art currently focuses on southwest aesthetics and adobe or earthen architecture found in northern New Mexico. My inspiration comes from my home of Taos Pueblo, specifically the people and the buildings that make up this very special place. In my latest paintings I've been working on breaking down images to simpler forms and colors to emulate that of adobe or earthen building materials (ie staw, mud, and clay) as well as playing with light and shadow to create a quiet serene feeling to my paintings
