2000, 2001, 2002, during their 3 NBA titles. He cooked for the Angels in 2002 when they won the World Series and he then cooked for the Mighty Ducks in 2003 when they made their 1st Stanley Cup appearance nicknaming him the "Championship Chef". A top chef in the L.A. food scene, in 2016 he was the personal chef for Mariah Carey, he also served as personal chef for Dr. Jerry Buss, currently Chef for renowned Sports Agent Scott Boras as well as Baseball Superstar Adrian Beltre and in April of 2017 he was honored to cook with Wolfgang Puck and Chef Nobu.

He was featured on the cover of Great Taste Magazine and was referred to as a "top chef, teacher, and innovator."

He has annually cooked for Grammy artists at the Grammy Awards and has cooked for the LA Dodgers. In July 2018, he traveled to Washington and cooked for the Major League All Star game.

He serves as executive Chef for Melissa's Foods, a worldwide leader in produce.

He owns Zapien's Salsa Grill and Taqueria in Pico Rivera which was voted FOX LA's #1 Mexican Restaurant 5 consecutive years and in 2017 was voted "TOP 5" Chili Verde in Los Angeles by the LA times.

But he says his most memorable meal was when he prepared a meal for Pope John Paul in his 1999 visit to St Louis.
