About the Artist:

I am a visual artist specializing in single-line drawing and painting. My work celebrates the strength and resilience of the Black woman. My process is a mixture of technical and artistic practices. I never lift my hand as I draw and paint, so each piece is made with one
unbroken line. It is common to see a grandmother, a dear friend, or even experience a snippet of a historical moment in my work. The women that populate my
work, while subject to societal stigmas and projected views, portray confidence, strength, and resilience. One of my pieces in particular, "Fruits of My Labor", provides women of color a strong mirror reflection of their confidence, power and beauty. The woman in this
piece has full lips, a wide "negro" nose, and small, but bright piercing eyes. She is proud of her features, wearing her gele, and holds her head high as she goes about her day. The Black woman is no longer the most neglected person anymore. I provide opportunities for women of color to reflect on their
strength and resilience and to be able to share their own stories and journeys. My work allows women of color to authentically be themselves and unapologetically love themselves and the challenges that they've been through.
