0Enjoy a catered lunch for 10 and a tour of the historic Wye House and its outbuildings. The tour will be led by Richard Tilghman (12th generation owner) and Will Gordon (13th generation). Will and Lee are current parents of Bennett and Mary. The Wye House property was acquired in 1659 by Richard and Will's ancestor, Edward Lloyd. The current main house dates to about 1790 and was built by the fourth Edward Lloyd in the Palladian style. Notable outbuildings include the only remaining 18th Century fully original Orangerie (greenhouse) in the United States and an early 18th Century brick house known as The Captain's House. Most of the furnishings in the main house are original to the house or the earlier Lloyd residence on the property. Frederick Douglass, who was owned by the Overseer of the property, lived in The Captain's House from age 6 to 9 (1824-27).
