Calling all wine connoisseurs! Here's a delightful 4-bottle wine package for you. All of the wines are highly rated and two are Magnum size (1.5L). Total package value is $415 and includes:
-
2011 Podernuovo a Palazzone "Argirio" Cabernet Franc 1.5L. Valued at $90. Donated by Dennis Fassett.
Rated 95 points by James Suckling, "This is firm and tannic but very finely textured. Full body with ultra-fine tannins and a long finish. Flavors of iron and spice with some terracotta. Chalky. Pure cabernet franc."
-
Lisini Brunello di Montalcino 2016. Sangiovese from Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy. Retail value is $60. Donated by Bryan Farres.
Winemaker Notes: Deep ruby red that is refined over the years to almost bright orange. The nose is slightly ethereal with extraordinary elegance with hints of undergrowth, tobacco, violet and vanilla; dry flavor, but at the same time soft, full and harmonious, firm, consistent and aristocratic.
Critical Acclaim:
97 points by Decanter, "Powerful, creamy, succulent with oak in proportion to the ripe red fruits. Palate is plush and juicy with plenty of tannin."
96 points by Wine Enthusiast, "Inviting aromas of ripe wild berry, baking spice and Mediterranean herb are front and center along with a whiff of blue flower. Full bodied and vibrant, the savory palate features ripe Marasca cherry, star anise and nutmeg framed in noble tannins. Bright acidity provides freshness and balance. Give this time to fully develop and you'll be rewarded."
94 points by Wine Spectator, "A touch of new oak adds an element of sweetness and spice to this cherry-, plum- and mineral-flavored red, which is lithe, with well-integrated, underlying tannins and a lingering finish."
-
00 Wines 2018 Shea Pinot Noir (Yamhill-Carlton). Oregon. Magnum size bottle (1.5 liters). Donated by Danny Morando & JJ Knox Wine.
Rated 92 points by Wine Enthusiast, "The fruit from this iconic vineyard was fermented in amphora, yielding a wine with astringent minerality. The blackberry and black cherry flavors are a Shea Vineyard hallmark, here on display in both the aromas and core fruit. Aged in one-third new French oak, this wine is quite young and will benefit from aeration and/or further bottle age." -Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast.
-
2016 Domaine Bois de Boursan Chateauneuf-du-Pape 'Cuvee des Felix', Rhone, France. Retail value is $85. Donated by Bryan Farres.
A blend of Grenache (65%), Mourvedre (25%), Syrah (5%) and assortment of other grape varieties (5%).
94 Points by Wine Advocate, "Deeper and more concentrated than the regular bottling, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee des Felix is otherwise reasonably similar, with dark fruit flavors, ample
