In 2014, Goat Hill Park was threatened to be shut down by prospectors and city officials, but luckily the local community and some celebrity supporters such as Adam Scott, Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, and Kelly Slater, came together to save the course. The course was renovated and revitalized by locals in 2016.
