NEEDHAM GOLF CLUB

The Needham Golf Club (https://www.needhamgolfclub.com/) is widely regarded as one of the best 9- hole golf courses in the greater Boston area. It traces its roots to the turn of the century when the Needham Water Board authorized the construction of the golf course with the charge of protecting and maintaining the land and the water supply. Wayne Stiles, a disciple of Donald Ross, was secured to be the golf course architect (Stiles also designed such notable local course such as Marshfield CC, Woodland CC, and Woods Hole GC, to name just a few). The course first opened for play in 1901, and
the Club celebrated its Centennial this year, as it was incorporated in 1923 as a non-profit organization.

The course is known for its pristine condition (it has had only 2 superintendents in the past 75 years) and its excellent and challenging greens. Members typically play a 6100 yard 18 holes from the Blue tees on the front side and the White tees on the back.

BHS Parent, Trustee and Autism Advocate Chris Supple is donating a 3some to play 18 holes with him, and he is an enthusiastic though marginally skilled golfer, conversationalist and all around good guy -- though some say Chris is well-suited to a 9-hole course because he doesn't yet have a full 18 holes worth of good jokes and stories!
