For more than 70 years, HumanKind Ministries has brought the community together for the Humanitarian Awards Benefit to celebrate individuals and organizations doing exceptional work to help the less fortunate-everyday people going out of their way to help someone just because it's the right thing to do. The event is also a fundraiser, raising critical funds to help HumanKind Ministries continue our important work helping the homeless and those living in poverty through our homeless shelters, low-income apartments, case management, Operation Holiday, and more.

Mystery Boxes | Purchase a box but wait until the end of the night to open it. All boxes contain a prize-meals to museum memberships and more. One lucky guest will win the grand prize-previous years' grand prizes include a cruise!
Heads or Tails | Purchase beads during cocktail hour and wear them to dinner. Our auctioneer will flip a coin-predict how it will land to keep your beads and stay standing. The last person standing will win the grand prize-previous year's prize was a trip to Vegas!
Plinko Drinko | HK's take on The Price is Right's Plinko and your chance to win wine and whiskey ranging from $15 to $100. Play your puck just right on our 8ft tall Plinko board and take home the bottles your pucks land on!

Do I need to do anything before the event?
Yes. We ask that all guests register their details in advance of the event. Registering for the event ahead of time helps to streamline your check-in process, and makes playing games, bidding on live auction items, and more even easier! We also ask that you provide the first and last name, and contact information for your guests. Please click the REGISTER DETAILS button toward the top of this page and proceed to the MY INFO section to add this information.

Distillery 244 is located in the heart of Old Town where there is ample parking. Click here to view a map of nearby parking lots.
What is the dress code?
The dress code for this event is formal. Pant suits with collared shirts and ties and gowns are encouraged.

Leadership Through Action
Awarded to Robyn Chadwick
Robyn Chadwick is the president of Ascension Via Christi hospital where she leads with passion and dedication.
During her nine years at Via Christi, Robyn has been a leader, an innovator, and an advocate for the community, with a passion for serving often-overlooked populations including those suffering from mental and behavioral health challenges.
We are delighted to award Robyn with this recognition for her leadership.
Golden Rule
Awarded to International Rescue Committee, Wichita
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is a humanitarian aid organization founded in 1933 at the suggestion of Albert Einstein and operates in over 40 countries and 25 U.S. cities. In Wichita, the IRC resettles refugees, supports survivors of human trafficking, provides free and low-cost immigration services, and assists vulnerable families living in Sedgwick County.
IRC volunteers go above and beyond to ensure that newly arrived immigrants can assimilate to their new home-they provide transport, assist with immigration paperwork, teach English, set up homes, and help navigate public transportation, to name just a few.
We are proud to have such an organization based in Wichita and congratulate IRC for leading with humanity and compassion in their critical work.
Light The Way Youth
Awarded to Jose Trejo
22-year-old Newman graduate Jose Trejo embodies grit, grace, and gratitude. As a proud Latino, Wichitan, and social work major, Jose is passionate about giving back to his community.
Jose is the Community Impact Specialist for local non-profit, Empower where he works in the north end of Wichita-a historic rich and vibrant but overlooked and underserved area-helping to reignite its beauty and strength by helping close the digital divide for children and families without access to broadband, assessing community need in the area of workforce development, education and economic development.
These are just a few reasons why Jose is such a deserving recipient of this year's Light The Way Youth Award.
