The Wings Club was founded in 1942 when a number of America's aviation leaders created a meeting place where they could gather to discuss vital issues concerning the emerging aviation industry. Its founders included aviation visionaries such as Eddie Rickenbacker, Fiorello LaGuardia and Juan Trippe.

The Club's membership includes many of aviation's most notable figures and is made up of aviation professionals and people with related interests including commercial airlines, manufacturers, investment banks, consulting and legal firms, insurance, and other aerospace companies.

Today, the mission of The Wings Club Foundation is focused on initiatives aimed at supporting scholarships for university-level students pursuing careers in aviation or aerospace, providing programs to educate in the field of aviation, and supporting charitable organizations that use aviation to help those in need.
