E Bar L History

E Bar L, located thirty miles east of Missoula, is one of the oldest and most enjoyed guest ranches in Montana. The ranch was purchased and founded by Juanita Vero's great-grandfather and has served as a Rocky Mountain retreat for families from around the world for almost 100 years.

The Ranch offers one of the finest herds of horses in Montana and excellent scenic trails for both experienced and novice riders. Fly fishing enthusiasts have access to some of the premier trout streams in North America, with the Blackfoot River at their doorstep and the Clark Fork and Bitterroot Rivers within a short drive. For those who merely want to hike, tour the countryside, or just relax around their cabins, the beauty of the Blackfoot Valley and the gracious hospitality of the E Bar L staff will make your stay memorable.

If you've never visited but would like to learn more about the E Bar L, a conversation with Juanita is one of your only options-they don't have a website, nor do they advertise. They serve the same clients year after year, guests who value an authentic, rustic, and tight-knit dude-ranching experience closely connected to the land.

A One-in-a-kind Experience

Enjoy a September morning ride for two at the storied E Bar L Ranch in Greenough, Montana, followed by lunch in the main lodge. This 4-hour ride will best be appreciated by those with some riding experience (the ability to do a posting trot is preferred). This package is a unique opportunity to wander timbered hills, meander across the expansive prairie, gallop through open grasslands, ford rivers, and better your horsemanship skills in open country.
