"In her poem "Wild Geese", Mary Oliver says "tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine." Suffering becomes sacred when we share its burdens with one another. I hope my painting captures the connections between us, mirrored in nature: here, in a group of floating flowers, some fresh, some decaying, all intertwined, holding each other in the tension of life and death."

Raised in McLean, Virginia, I earned my BA in Art History from Brigham Young University, with many art classes along the way and thereafter. Now I raise my family of four children in Central California with my amazing husband Steve, and paint. Constantly.
The process of putting a brush to surface slows time down for me so I notice subtleties - texture on a petal, a swipe of ripening pigment on a pear, light filtering through a child's skirt - in ways I otherwise entirely miss. Painting is my way of paying attention to and processing the beauty and complexity of the world (and people) around me, through color, brushstroke, and texture.
I'm very grateful that my work has found its way to many homes.
