Package includes:

  • VIA FERRATA guided adventure for 6 people

Via Ferrata is an Italian word which translates to Iron Way. It is a mountain route equipped with fixed protection like metal rugged ladders, cables, and bridges, anchored right to the cliffs themselves. This unique adventure will take place is the heart of Navajo Sandstone just
outside of Zion National Park in Southern Utah.

Shorty Town? Via Ferrata Highlights

  • Breathtaking hike both down and up our steep wooded trail in a flowing-water canyon.
  • Includes 2 via ferrata climbs - one on the practice wall and the Shorty Town? loop at Eye of the Needle Unparalleled views of Eye of the Needle's waterfall and Oak Creek Canyon One-of-a-kind experience

Via Ferrata - Iron Path

  • We built the only modern-style Italian via ferrata in the United States.
  • No experience necessary. Unlike rock climbing, there is little technical skill needed to climb a via ferrata. If you can climb a ladder, you can feel the thrill and magnificence of scaling our 450 foot tall cliff.
  • Begin your instruction on a 75' practice wall where you will learn to operate your own safety equipment. From there, hike a wandering path through the ponderosa pine forest to the rim of Eye of the Needle?. Over the edge you go on a 75' rim-drop down to a cliff ledge, and then scale the walls during this awe-inspiring experience.

What to Expect on Shorty Town?

  • This tour is hosted on our private land just outside the boundary of Zion National Park. This area is awe-inspiring & remote. You will be clipped in to a safety cable for the duration of the climb. Helmet, harness, & all safety gear included.
  • 5 - 6 hours in duration
  • Meet at 9:30am at 116 N Kolob Road. (aka Kolob Terrace Road). Park your car; we'll transport you 2.5 miles over back roads with beautiful views, to one of our remote cabins where you'll gear up and start your instruction.
  • After gearing up, hike our beautiful wooded trail to the via ferrata practice wall. It is 75' tall with 2 via ferrata routes. You'll spend roughly 60 - 90 minutes here to ensure safe travel on the main wall, aka. Shorty Town?. You'll learn to use your equipment to climb both up and down.
  • Successful demonstration of safe gear operation on the practice wall is necessary to proceed to Shorty Town?.
  • Continue hiking down our adventure trail, complete with chains and moki steps, to the rim of Eye of the Needle?. 450 below you will be the canyon floor. Here is where you'll clip in, sit back
  • Minimum weight 88 lbs; maximum 260 lbs

What to Bring

  • Water & Food/Snacks - enough for 5 - 6 hours of exertion. Hydration packs are best for use while climbing. If you don't have a hydration pack, water bottles are fine if tethered to your person (we wouldn't want it tumbling 450' to the canyon floor)
  • Sunscreen
  • Comfortable clothing for varying seasonal weather
  • Wind or Rain coat any time of year
  • Warm clothing for spring and fall
  • Shorts are okay; pants are better since you will be in a harness most of the day
  • Gloves during cooler temperatures.
  • Your adventurous spirit

We Provide

  • Professional via ferrata equipment including, but not limited to:
  • Helmet
  • Harness
  • Special safety system designed to eliminate potential hazards of standard via ferrata
  • Gloves
  • Transportation from 116 N Kolob Road to our remote cabin where your instruction begins.

Certificates will be mailed to the winning bidder at no cost.
