Team Animal Welfare is led by Captain Lynda Barrows and Alternate Captain Scott Nightingale. This team will be raising funds for animal welfare organizations in Tampa Bay.

The Lightning team members drafted to team Animal Welfare are #77 Victor Hedman, #10 Corey Perry, #24 Zach Bogosian, and #52 Cal Foote.

Team Captain Lynda Barrows: "I have always had a huge love and respect for animals since I was young and I cannot recall many times where a dog or cat or bird even wasn't a huge part of our family. It breaks my heart to know how many animals are out there on the streets homeless or sitting in a shelter just hoping and waiting for a family to pick them and provide them with the love and protection and forever home they so deserve. I want to help support the shelters that provide temporary homes, medical care, food, love and support to these beautiful animals while they wait to go to a loving home. We have many amazing local organizations that do just that and they need our help in raising funds to allow them to continue to provide these critical services to our furry friends. We just recently lost one of our four fur-kids to cancer, he was a happy, goofy, handsome, unconditional love rescue dog named Wolfie and he was a Big Bolts fan! He got me through some of the most difficult times of my life and I will forever be grateful to the rescue that saved him from the streets and brought him to us. Sadly not all the animals out there are as lucky to be saved. My hope and goal is to partner with Tampa Bay Lightning Players and raise enough funds to help make this a reality for so many more. So let's do this!!!"

Alternate Captain Scott Nightingale: "As someone who has no children, animals are the closest I've got to them. I have two little dogs myself and definitely have a heart for animals. Whether it's making sure the turtle gets across the road or recently helping save a litter of baby rats I always try and make I do right by animals. I still don't like snakes however or cats...well besides Vasy!"
