Dr. Gretchen Kinchen is originally from Hyden, Kentucky. As the daughter of former educators, Dr. Kinchen thought she found her calling as a middle school science teacher.

When her oldest son, Thomas was born with an array of medical problems, it was necessary for her to take time off to care for her family. It also gave her the time to re-evaluate the direction her career was going. Dr. Kinchen decided to switch paths and go back to school to pursue Dentistry. She graduated from University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 2008 and has owned Dental Care by Gretchen Kinchen since 2010.

Being raised in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, Dr. Kinchen learned the value of hard work and developed a true love of people. She has a passion for providing excellent dental care and believes the mouth is the gateway to a person's overall health. Dr. Kinchen prides herself in creating beautiful, healthy smiles in a comfortable, safe environment.

While Dentistry is Dr. Kinchen's passion, her family is her heart and soul. Along with her husband Alex, they started The Gathering Place, a Church where people in Lexington from all backgrounds and experiences can feel at home and be open to the truth of how much God loves them. They have been married for almost 28 years and they have two adult children, Samantha (married to Chase), Thomas, and a five year old, Jackson.
