Dr. Yasmin Majumder has been a Nurse for 10 years and a Nurse Practitioner for last 9 years. The bulk of her time practicing has been spent serving the underserved population commonly found in rural areas on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. She currently practices in both Kentucky and Wisconsin and provides mental health and substance use treatment options in an outpatient setting.

Her strongest passion is to advocate for the most vulnerable populations that suffer from mental illness and/or substance use disorders as they are frequently underserved and vulnerable. She recently completed her Doctorate degree in 2022, and her research project proved that applying the Jean Watson's Caring Theory to the most vulnerable, can be proven highly effective in promoting mental health and lengthening sobriety long-term. She has volunteered for Surgery on Sunday for over a decade and has found that everyone at Surgery on Sunday seems to follow this theory, even if they are blissfully unaware.

Yasmin loves the Rotary Club's mission and vision statements, "we provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders, and together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves" as it greatly aligns with her personal views and is excited to support the Rotary Club of Lexington efforts.

Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, dancing, and singing. Yasmin has a 25-year-old daughter and have raised her as a single-mother for over two decades.

Her boyfriend of 5 years, Chad Heilig, shares her love for volunteering thorough Surgery on Sunday and is dancing with her in this year's Dancing with the Lexington Stars.
