Anonymous Donor. Pre-2004 teapot by Janet Mansfield. Wood-fired, salt glazed with heavy ash glaze. A special example of a Janet Mansfield (1934 - 2013) teapot! Personally given to the donor by Janet at her studio in Gulgong, Australia, circa 2004. Initialed. 4.5" x 8" (handle to spout). Janet was a potter, author, publisher and past President of the International Academy of Ceramics who had major impact on Australian and international ceramics. She had over 35 solo exhibitions in Australia, Japan and New Zealand, and was included in group exhibitions in Australia and many other countries. Her work is in major public and private collections and documented in international publications. She launched her own journals, Ceramics: Art and Perception in 1990 and Ceramics Technical in 1995. She also wrote a number of books on ceramics. She was, and remains, well known and highly respected throughout the ceramics community for her wonderful wood fired pot.
