La Chevauchee
Hand-colored etching on Rives paper
After Marc Chagall (1887-1985)
Edition 36 of 50.

Size: 32" x 26" framed

Marc Chagall was a Russian-French artist and early modernist. Amidst a central bouquet of vibrant red and blue flowers, a couple rides a beautiful horse in Chagall's La Chevaucheé (The Ride). This fanciful piece appears otherworldly, as if the viewer is witnessing a dream. A lovely woman sits to the lower left gazing at a bowl of fruit, the bouquet of brilliant red flowers is a centerpiece on her table.

The subject was etched under the direction of engraver P.B. Spalaikovitch. The work was subsequently hand-colored and issued as a limited edition by Magui Publishers, who released the images in editions of 50.
