Thank You for Your Support
Proceeds from Puzzle Day support the Heidt Center of Excellence. The Heidt Center offers a continuum of specialized services for individuals with autism and related diagnoses, including support services for families. Services include a specialized school program, a transition to adulthood program, and innovative work-readiness programs. Our goal is to ensure that our students experience a seamless education and work/life training path.
Funds raised in conjunction with Puzzle Day will be used for:
- Scholarships to ensure that students in financial need can access the school program services
- Funding for field trips for community, social, and job-related outings
- Supplies for teaching adaptive daily living skills, including health & fitness, cooking, laundry, hygiene, etc.
- Development of additional support programming for individuals with autism in our community
- Prizes and other items needed for Puzzle Day
History of Puzzle Day
The annual Puzzle Day event was started in 2015 by a local volunteer who shares a personal connection to autism. That year, seven teams competed to finish the same puzzle in the fastest time at a family-friendly event. The teens blew it out of the water, quickly finishing ahead of the family and adult teams around them! The Heidt Center has maintained this event in an annual Puzzle Day during Autism Acceptance Month each April since then.
In 2019, we had over 20 teams participating, with over 200 people in attendance. In 2020, due to the sudden interruption of the pandemic, we had to cancel. Then, in 2021, we hosted a month-long virtual fundraiser instead of a one-day in-person event.
We are so excited to welcome the competition back to the Heidt Center campus in 2022 and we hope to see you there!
Thank you in advance for your support of Puzzle Day and the Heidt Center of Excellence!
