JOHN RIDER

Gordon Parks (American photographer, 1912-2006) was born into poverty and segregation in Fort Scott, Kansas, and became one of the most highly regarded photojournalists of the 20th century. His photographs consistently explored the social and economic impact of poverty, racism, and other forms of discrimination. His creative work also encompassed nonfiction writing, musical composition, filmmaking, and painting. He was recognized with over fifty honorary doctorates and his works hang in major museum collections all over the world.
