This pillowcase features traditional Mayan geometric brocade work, woven into the fabric by hand, using the backstrap loom. The gray color is artisanally dyed using ash, the blue threads are from recycled denim jean re-purposed factory scraps, the lilac color is from local bark, and the white is natural raw cotton. Handwoven by cooperatives of Mayan women weavers in rural communities from Santa Catarina Ixtahuacan in the Western Highlands. Pillowcase measures 16in x 16in and features inside lining and zipper on bottom edge. Y'abal is a fair trade organization in Guatemala that supports rural indigenous women weavers and their families through their textile social enterprise and other programs.
