This pack of 3 different vineyard varietals of 2020 Syrah from Tensley Vineyard in Los Olivos, CA is a wonderful addition to any wine collection.

3 varietals included are:

  • 2020 Syrah-Thompson Vineyard
  • 2020 Syrah- Tensley Vineyard
  • 2020 Syrah- Colson Canyon Vineyard

From the website:

2020 Tensley Vineyard (91-93 points, Jeb Dunnuck) Planted in 2011 in our backyard in Los Olivos, to the famed 470 Syrah Clone. Talk about meticulous farming! Being in our backyard this vineyard gets a lot of love, probably too much! All of the time spent in the vineyard here results in a rustic savory style with amazing texture, while toeing the line of finesse. Tiny berries and low yields make this wine dark in color and tannic in the mouth. Not a wine for the meek. If you plan to drink this wine in the next 3-4 years give it an hour to open up so you get the full experience of the texture and complexities. You will not regret it.

2020 Colson Canyon (94-96 points, Jeb Dunnuck) Everything we farm in house is something very special to us. This site is one of the most unique and special places in the world of wine. High (1400 elevation) in the hills north of the Santa Maria Valley with some of the most iron-laced soils I have seen in Santa Barbara County. This wine always delivers juicy round seamless edges. This is the only wine we add some new French oak, as its weight and power integrates with the oak, adding a bit of toasty buttery complexity. Colson Canyon is such a beautiful example of fruit forward juicy California Syrah. Open it anytime and enjoy its blueberry, cassis and chocolate nuances or leave it 20 years and enjoy its leathery, almondy notes. It does not really matter when you open it, it will deliver.

2020 Thompson Vineyard. We have been making Thompson since the very first vintage of Tensley back in 1998. It is a special site, with sandy loam soils and own rooted Estrella clone. It is always the most feminine and perfumed of the syrahs we make. People tend to believe it will not age as well as the more powerful syrahs, but it does. Its beautiful acidity and middle palate gives the wine lift and energy. Every year the aromas jump out of the glass with strawberry and boysenberry, and when you really get in there, you will find chocolate, coffee, sage and other herbs. We love this vineyard and wine for our shared history and its consistent delivery of impressive product in the glass.
