Born in 1943 in Laredo, TX, Amado Pena is of Chicano/Yaqui heritage. He was educated at Texas A&I University in Kingsville, receiving both his Bacherlor's and Master's degrees. He taught in the Texas public schools for 15
years. During this time he displayed his work (which examined the blend of Indian and Chicano cultures) and gained a following.

Eventually he left the classroom and opened the first of three studio/galleries to display
contemporary Southwestern art.

His work has been displayed in Peking
and Tokyo, and major public collections which include his work are The White House, The Smithsonian Institute, the University of California at Long Beach, and the Whitney Museum.

His work is described as a synthesis of Pre-Columbian art, American Indian art, Mexican folk art, and contemporary American art.

Pena has frequently manned a display booth at the Fountain Hills Great Fair and the Fountain Hills Festival of Arts & Crafts.

Dimensions are 27"x31".
