Charles Taube was a professional carpenter for 28 years, building entry doors and gates for custom homes. In 1996, as one of the founding members of an antique car club dedicated to the preservation of the "Woodie Automobile", he created his first hardwood sculpture, to be given as an award to their show winner.

In August of 1997, Charles suffered a serious accident on the job that came very close to severing his left hand. After three operations and hours of physical therapy, he still lost
70% use of his left hand. While searching for
some meaning of the life he had experienced before the accident, Charles created a second sculpture with his right hand. Many more were to follow.

Self-taught, Taube's contemporary free-
flowing hardwood sculptures are uniquely individual. Each sculpture is composed of one or more various hardwoods. He cuts, laminates, and shapes each created form, applies several layers of clear finish, color-sands the finish, and then polishes the sculpture.

"I envision each sculpture, bring it
to life, and my spirit is set free," says Taube.

Dimensions are 24"x20" and 31" tall.
