Janet Rae Eason sculpts what she knows best- people and their universal emotions. Her sculpture is easily recognized because the viewer is immediately drawn to the face of the subject.

Eason was born on a rural Idaho ranch and currently resides in Scottsdale, AZ. She has enjoyed a successful career as a full-time professional artist since 1988. As a child and a teen, she had the annual job of walking on
her knees, filling burlap bags with Idaho potatoes, while she dreamed of being a rockette, but there weren't funds to fulfill her dreams. Years later, at age 40, through determination, she did fulfill her second dream and became a self-taught sculptor, working in bronze and glass.

The Fountain Hills Public Art collection includes Eason's bronze "Damned Wind" near the west entrance of the Fountain Hills community Center. Similar to "Damned Wind" is the smaller auction piece entitled "Worn Out Memories Lamp", which is accompanied by this poem:

"Years of memories blanket my mind,
Most of a sweet nature, but some are the hurting kind.
I'm an old cowboy feelin' the weight of regret.
Memories fall hard . . . some I can't forget.
So I soak up the dark . . . and drink to ease my pain.
Drowning worn out memories, until they surface...again."

Dimensions are 14"x15" and 45" tall.
