Artist Bio:

Benjamin is our tallest resident and artist. He's 11 years old and enjoys spending his days in the yard with Akayla. Don't be fooled by this guy's large size, Benjamin is truly a gentle giant. When he isn't eating or grazing out in the yard, Benjamin enjoys training with his keepers and supervising as they clean his barn. While a lot of the residents at the zoo use their feet and hooves to create their masterpieces, Benjamin takes another approach and uses his mouth to create his works of art. Giraffes have well developed lips and a prehensile tongue that allows them to eat the leaves of the thorny acacia tree. Even though most animals avoid the foliage of the tree, giraffes have specialized adaptations to eat the prickly leaves.
