Artist Bio:

Simba arrived at the Zoo in 2005 as a youngster. Playful and loving as he grew up at our former facility, he quickly became a favorite, both impressing and inspiring our guests. Simba continued that role prominently at our new facility, where his roars could be heard throughout the Zoo. His majestic stature impressed all who saw him, and even more so when he was atop his favorite rock.

16-year-old Simba, who lost his battle with cancer in 2020, had been under veterinary care for some time before his passing. As one of the Zoo's more iconic animals, he was deeply loved by our staff and visitors. The day Simba left us was one of the Zoo's darkest moments, leaving us heartbroken. But when news of his passing was posted on social media, over 800 people shared Simba's photos, videos, and stories proving that his life was well-lived and left a lasting legacy in the hearts of people across the country. Our community will never know how that gesture brought comfort to a heartbroken team, and we remain grateful to all who shared their stories. Now, you can be a part of Simba's legacy and own one of his majestic pawprints. Rest in Peace, Simba---we love and miss you.
