This PANORAMA OF THE HUDSON RIVER is by artists William Wade and William Croome- 1846 edition
In 1845 Wade and Croome, created and copyrighted a twelve-foot-long panorama illustrating in detail both shores of the Hudson River between Albany and New York City. Each section of the panorama featured towns and their important buildings, hills, mountains, docking facilities, ferries, and the watercraft that plied along the 138-mile route.
The most unique feature of this work was that they designed it from the perspective of viewing each shore from the middle of the river so that one could identify what was on either shore.
The work being offered is a three-foot section of the original twelve-foot panorama. The original work was offered as a folded hand pointed map enclosed in a book. In the 1847 edition the panorama and text were extended north to Lansingburgh on the east shore and Waterford on the west with an engraving of Cohoes Falls.
