"Napping Dogs in Bed" by Sarit Halo (watercolor and marker on paper, 24 x 30 x 1 in)

The Tierra del Sol Gallery empowers people with developmental disabilities through careers in the arts.

Sarit Halo, born in 1977 in California, has worked as a studio artist in the Careers in the Arts program of Tierra del Sol Foundation since 2002. Her images are invitations to charming, alternate worlds. Halo translates imagery from reference and creates decorative drawings from her imagination. Her work is often brilliantly patterned with color and shape, and may include an insightful portrait of an interesting person or animal. Halo uses colored pencil, acrylic, and watercolor, and will often mix these media in combination. Her artwork portrays self-expression and joy throughout its expansive range of subject matter. Halo is a mentor to other aspiring artists and has a valued role within her personal and professional social circles. She has received recognition throughout the community for her art, obtained numerous private commissions, and had her work purchased nationally.

Halo's exhibition resume includes the Nickelodeon Offices, Burbank, California; Expressions, Descanso Gardens' Sturt Haaga Gallery, La Canada Flintridge, California; Metamorphosis, First Street Gallery, Upland, California; and the Outsider Art Fair New York, Metropolitan Pavilion, New York, New York.
