This fund-a-need will specifically go toward two major things: first, revamping and enhancing our Learning Kitchen, and second replacing the large sensorial Montessori materials in the Preschool and Lower Elementary.

BC, before COVID, it was such a great joy to walk by the Learning Kitchen and see all of the students working together with their teachers, be it a math lesson, science, cultural studies, Spanish, or just plain cooking. We miss the MAP class where Mike Gately cooked steakhouse classics with the kids! It is also where our Middle School students would plan, budget, shop, cook, and serve beautiful lunches to eat together with our faculty and staff. A real hallmark of grace and courtesy! Our Learning Kitchen is a hub for all of this learning: cooking, smelling, eating, touching, listening, laughing, and connecting as a community. It's a full sensorial experience that is in need of some serious upgrades to the appliances, shelving, and work tables.

Similarly, the wear and tear on the large sensorial materials in the Preschool and Lower Elementary is real. These beautiful, hand-painted, wooden materials are integral to the Montessori experience. They develop and refine the senses of our youngest students so they can categorize information, solve puzzles, and build structures. These materials are the precursor to the Learning Kitchen!
