This 6-inch Tankard is thrown on a potter's wheel and fired in a wood-burning kiln to 2300 degrees over the course of four days. Ash and flames from the burning wood affect the glaze and clay surface, making each piece unique.
We are not sure when this "map" of Carbondale was created, but you will have fun searching for local landmarks that are no longer here (Kaleidoscope, Copper Dragon, Dillenger's Feed Store, Dr. Ryan and Dr. Jackson's offices) as well as those that are still a part of the community (Harbaugh's, Longbranch, churches, University buildings, Mike's Music).
