Raku Form- "Feelie"
A simple Raku form that the potter calls a "feelie" as people tend to want to touch it! It is glazed with a glaze that crackles when it comes out of the kiln and immediately placed in flammable material such as straw which leaves the carbon lines.
The Raku technique is when glazed ceramics are removed from the kiln while they are still glowing and red hot, then placed in a material that would be able to catch fire such as sawdust or newspaper. This technique is used to starve the piece of oxygen, which creates the colors and/or lines within the glaze.
