The Mascot is a Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon made from distinct hillside vineyards; specifically, the younger vines of BOND, Harlan Estate, and Promontory. It started out as a small project shared among the family, winemaking team, and close friends. Drawing fruit from blocks of recently replanted vineyards, The Mascot shares a glimpse into the evolution of its parent estates: a youthful snapshot of their future. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with Petit Verdot & Cab Franc.

3 bottles of 2018 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon from Mirror Napa Valley (USA)

Difficult to find unless you're on their allocation, this wine displays all the attributes of a classic Howell Mountain cab and is now coming into its own. Draped in deep garnet, with strapping tannins on broad shoulders, and an elixir-like cologne of crushed herbs and clove. Beautiful from the start, it strides the tongue with a bevy of dried cherries and star anise, a slight sweetness on the entry with Balaton-like acidity and pleasant astringency building through the mid palate. The long linger evidences youth, brawny and bold. Only rest and deep time will tame this one. If cellared correctly, this wine will live out to 2039 or longer.
