The second trimester 7th grade Connections class created this quilt to show our love for Buffalo and all the reasons we love Buffalo.

This term in Connections the students explored patterns and codes, as well as how people have made and used quilts during history to send and tell messages and pass down stories.

This project was a team effort and the students learned a lot, seeing as none of them, teachers included, had made a quilt before.

Together they picked a theme for the quilt, picked a color scheme, sketched out squares and then used construction paper to model the actual fabric squares. Individually, students picked out fabric, did lots of sewing and cutting, and then together they planned the order of quilt.

Finally they attached the squares and finished by quilting the layers with batting and then binding the edges.
