Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC) breaks ground on second facility Emerald Coast Learning Center (ECLC)
ECAC started a Transition to Work Program through the Florida Department of Education, in partnership with Northwest Florida State College and with the generous support of Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation.
This program allows our students to learn job skills on the college campus. It gives our students an opportunity to find a job that they love and one in which they could maintain employment in the future. These students need a facility that is designed to support the specific needs of older students learning job skills. ECLC will offer specialized facilities for vocational training, including a commercial kitchen, a laundry facility, Light It Up Brew (the organization's student-run coffee shop), a car wash, and more!
ECLC will also house several academic classrooms for students on track to graduate from ECAC and continue their education at other local public or private schools.
About Emerald Coast Autism Center: ECAC was founded in August 2009 to fill a strong need in Northwest Florida for a high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy-based, year-round school, and therapy center dedicated to serving the needs of individuals on the autism spectrum. ECAC is unique in its approach to teaching, focusing on individualized therapy with a one-to-one student-to-therapist ratio for many of its students.
