Valley of Giants: Stories from Women at the Heart of Yosemite Climbing Autographed by Lauren DeLaunay Miller

Valley of Giants: Stories from Women at the Heart of Yosemite Climbing bravely fills in the gaps in the long canon of American climbing literature. With over thiry-five stories dating back to the 1930s, this anthology is the first compilation of women's voices told from the epicenter of American rock climbing. Contributors include Ruth Dyar Mendenhall, Liz Robbins, Molly Higgins, Maria Cranor, Julie Brugger, Silvia Vidal, Chelsea Griffie, Steph Davis, Beth Rodden, Lynn Hill, Babsi Zangerl, and many more. With more than thirty-five first-hand accounts of adventure, joy, and passion, Valley of Giants is a groundbreaking historical collection bound to inspire generations of adventurers.

About Miller: Miller is a storyteller based in California. After noticing an underrepresentation of women in climbing literature, she committed to telling the stories of her Yosemite foremothers. Her first book, Valley of Giants: Stories from Women at the Heart of Yosemite Climbing, will be published in the spring of 2022 by Mountaineers Books. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a current student in the University of California, Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, she is a regional editor and contributor for The American Alpine Journal, Accidents in North American Climbing, and The Cutting Edge podcast. Lauren spent three seasons as a member of the Yosemite Valley Search & Rescue team and was a founder of the Bishop Area Climbers Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to education, community, and stewardship in the Eastern Sierra.
