The first vineyards in Napa were planted in the late 19th century, but most were abandoned during Prohibition, and even by the 1970's orchards still dominated Napa and Sonoma. But as interest in wine grew, vineyards replaced the peach and apple trees. Legendary winemakers - Paul Draper of Ridge, Harvey Dunn, Joseph Phelps, André Tchelistcheff at Beaulieu began making excellent wines, and sharing their techniques
with young winemakers. This auction lot includes wines from several of those pioneers of California fine wines, and from others who have followed in their footsteps.
