An aerial view of downtown Springfield Ohio as taken from the Southeast. The
Church & 4 story bldg. in the lower left corner are still there on S. Limestone St.,
but much of the rest of this scene is gone. A little left of the two named bldgs. is a
Grain Mill, a Railroad Turntable and a workin' Steam Engine smoking away. Just
North from there across Big 4 Park is Kelly's Arcade Hotel. The old City Hall,
built in 1890 and now the Clark County Heritage Center, is just left of the Arcade
across Fountain Ave. You can clearly see the magnificent Big 4 Depot in the right
center of the scene with its Freight House just right of it (it's still there) and St.
Raphael Church right behind (North of) it. Please note the Elevator Silos up N.
Limestone St. just across the Buck Creek where they made William Tell Flour.
Mercy Hospital and Wittenberg's Recitation Hall & Myers Hall peak out of the
trees across the top. You can track the city's steeples and smokestacks as well as
the path of the Buck Creek as it meanders through the City, just north of
Downtown.
