A Full Color Photoprint on canvas illustrates the extraordinary structure known as City Hall and Marketplace. First opened in 1890, the building was designed in the Richardson Romanesque style by young Springfield-born Architect Charles Creager. In front of the 150 ft. tall Clock Tower are horse-drawn Wagons and there are also wagons backed up to their market stands on S. Market Street. Note the surrounding buildings and rooftops and awning-covered windows. The entire first floor was originally used for Grocery and Market purposes. The west end was the home of the Springfield Police dept. and Police court. The East end was City Offices. The plaza in front of its east entrance has been the site of many Events and Celebrations throughout our City's history. Professionally framed in a Gilded Gold Frame. Image is 15 1/4" x 19 1/4". Framed piece is approximately 21 1/2 x 25 1/2". Donated by Dan and Amy Hearlihy and The Springfield Historical Society LLC.
