Weldon Butler, Untitled, watercolor and oil stick, 26.5" x 34.5"
This item closes Friday, March 11th at 9 p.m.
Weldon Butler received his art training at Fleischer Art Memorial in Philadelphia, at Green River Community College and through observation of other artist's work as well as exchanges and friendships. After arriving in Seattle in the 70's, he worked a variety of jobs but always continued to create and exhibit his art, much of it abstract. Photography and printmaking were core parts of his practice and he was inspired by cityscapes and industrial landscapes. Butler's works can be found in numerous regional collections including Seattle Art Museum, the City of Seattle, and the University of Washington Medical Center among others.
