Framed Photograph "Sprinting to Fame" (1936)

New York Times Archive photograph captures Jesse Owens and other sprinters taking off in the 100-meter dash in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin. Owens won the heat in 10.3 seconds and won the gold medal in the finals. The remarkable feats of the Americans, particularly Owens (1913-1980), who was black, struck a propaganda blow against Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, who planned to use the Games as a showcase of supposed Aryan superiority.

8' x 10' photo, framed dimensions 14" x 16' x .9" - black wood frame, glicee archivalacid-free semi-matte photo paper, 6-ply mat, plexiglass.
