The course is perennially rated by experts like Golf Digest and GolfLink.com as one of the best and most difficult golf courses in the United States. Oakmont's hallowed grounds have hosted 9 U.S. Opens (more than any other course), 3 PGA Championships, 2 U.S. Women's Opens, 3 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships, and 5 U.S. Amateur Championships, including the 2021 championship, won by Michigan State University golfer James Piot!
