Stacey Hammond has been teaching since 1993. She received her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Art, emphasis in Ceramics, from the University of Arizona. While there, she studied in Florence, Italy, and discovered her love for the arts. Stacey received a California Teaching Credential and a Masters of Science in Education in 1994. She has taught kindergarten at Edgewood School in Santa Ana and second grade at Lincoln Elementary School in Corona del Mar. There, Stacey hatched a plan for an art and computer school called FYI-For Your Imagination. She was the owner of FYI for 16 years, teaching multimedia art with a rich cultural component. Stacey has been a visual arts teacher at Harbor Day School in Corona del Mar since 2010. Her students have won numerous awards at YAM, Youth Art Month, Imagination Celebration, Irvine Fine Arts Center 3-D Show, Color it Orange, and The Laguna Festival of the Arts. Her young artists have also been awarded first place at state-level competitions for artistic excellence. Stacey is an art director for the annual Harbor Day School Harbor Lights publication and sits on the Inclusivity and Diversity committee. She spent summers teaching Art in Tanzania, Costa Rica, China, and Ecuador. She has attended the NAEA conferences in Boston and New York and has spent a week in Santa Fe studying at the Bullseye Glass Company. Stacey is dedicated to teaching her students to "think outside the box." She cultivates a risk-free learning environment where students are encouraged to discover their individual abilities and style. Stacey is not only an educator, but an accomplished artist specializing in Ceramics, and is constantly creating!
