Learn the art of the Buranbaar with a private lesson offered by Miski Abdulle, Director of the Women's Advocacy Program at Pillsbury United Communities. The Buraanbur is a traditional dance done by women at Somali weddings and other ceremonies. Miski began offering Buranbaar sessions at Brian Coyle Center as a way for East African women to improve their physical health with exercise and also as an opportunity to break isolation and build relationships-all while being rooted in their culture. She is a Licensed Social Worker and Global Career Development Facilitator. Her dedicated service to immigrant women and the greater community was brought to center stage with the awarding of the 2015 Courageous Woman Award, an annual honor presented through the Augsburg College Women's Resource Center. The winner of this Pillsbury United Communities experience will have the option of a one-on-one lesson or a private small group lesson for a family and friends. Date and time to arranged directly with Miski.
