4 days, 3 nights for up to 4 people exploring the new Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument by canoe, foot, bike and road.

Auction winners will need to get themselves to Bangor, Maine (BGR) and then nearby Lucky Landing Float Plane Base where they will fly by float plane to Grand Lake Matagamon just outside the north entrance to Katahdin Woods & Waters National Monument their first day. They will spend the next 4 days and 3 nights exploring the National Monument with Elliotsville Foundation, Inc. guides Mark and Susan Adams. The auction winners will need to plan well in advance with their guides their adventures, depending on the season, abilities, and desires of their group.

Options can include biking, hiking, canoeing, fishing and hunting in and around the monument. They will stay in a variety of accommodations including glamping in the Monument, EFI's base in Patten, Maine, and, on the last night, a cozy cabin at the New England Outdoor Center in the shadow of Katahdin. Weather permitting, they will board their Katahdin Air float plane the last morning and fly back to Lucky Landing and BGR. During these 4 days they will be treated to delicious meals, fun adventures and lots of warm Northwoods' hospitality.

While in the Monument they will be where Theodore Roosevelt spent a lot of his time as a young man, learning the joys of outdoor life. He traveled throughout this region with his Maine Guides, Bill Sewall and Wilmot Dow, who later accompanied him to the Dakota Territory and to whom he dedicated his 1919 essay, My Debt to Maine. A tour of the Sewall House, still owned by Bill Sewall's great granddaughter, could also be an option.

Available July 1, 2022 through October 12, 2022. Transportation to Bangor, Maine and Lucky Landing Float Plane base not included. The 4 guests plus gear should weigh no more than 800 pounds total. Package must be booked well in advance, the earlier the better, depending on availability of services. If flights are cancelled due to inclement weather, EFI will make alternative plans for transportation to the region. Fly into Bangor Airport (BGR). Taxi service available to Lucky Landing. Please contact organization before booking any commercial flights. Packing lists, menu options, and activities can be customized to the group in advance.
