Why choose one when you can have all three?
At Sovereign Estate, we strive to produce world-class wines using our estate-grown grapes, Minnesota grown grapes, and grapes from around the nation. Our vineyard, located on the north shore of Lake Waconia, grows exquisite Marquette, La Crescent, Itasca and Frontenac Blanc, and our winemaking style is to highlight the unique quality of these Minnesota grapes.
- 2022 LA CRESCENT: Much like Sauvignon Blanc, the La Crescent grape has become well known for its expressive, citrusy personality. There's something delightfully "orange creamsicle" about our 2021 Estate bottling. Notes of citrus blossom and a gentle touch of sweetness round out the experience. Try it with your favorite summer salads or a tray of fresh fruits and cheeses.
- 2022 SYRAH RESERVE: Earlier this year we excitedly produced our first bottlings of Grenache, which inevitably got us thinking about Syrah, as the two grapes are often blended together. It's a real treat to currently have them both available as single variety offerings! Syrah is known for being a bit more "untamed," and there's no shortage of its smokey, meaty, gamey character here. Black olive, toasted sage, anise, and black peppercorn notes magically wrap around the wine's inherent brambly black fruited character. Dust off your decanter and get ready to experience a wine that somehow makes Cabernet Sauvignon look like it's for beginners.
- 2022 CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE: From the Left Bank of Bordeaux to the sun drenched slopes of Napa Valley, Cabernet Sauvignon is celebrated as one of the go-to wines for those seeking an intense, full-bodied red wine experience. Our Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are harvested from Washington state's Yakima Valley and then made into a wine that rests for 10 months in new French oak barrels. All the hallmark flavors are here: Blackberry, black currant, and dark chocolate notes are accented by an aroma reminiscent of freshly cut cigars. Look for a hint of graphite and subtle green peppercorn which add to the complexity.
