Lu-Shawn M. Thompson & Joseph DiMauro '70
Joseph V. DiMauro '70
Joseph DiMauro has accumulated more than 40 years' of experience in the energy and financial service sectors. His breadth of expertise in the energy sector spans purchasing, distribution, trading, brokerage, storage, transportation and refined fuel products, both in the domestic and foreign markets.
Currently, Joseph is the Managing Director of Liberty Terminal at Pennsauken LLC. Formerly, he served as the President of multiple businesses that include Terminal Ventures Inc., Eastern Energy Fuels, Inc., Pan American Refining LTD (Bermuda) and as Chairman and CEO of Clark Dodge Asset Management LLC.
Mr. DiMauro earned his BA in Economics from St. Francis College and MBA from Long Island University. He gives significant credit to his parents, Lucy and Sebastian of Brooklyn, his wife Marie and the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn for helping him shape his values and heart.
Throughout his career, Joe never forgot his roots and aided his high school alma mater, Bishop Ford, in many fundraising efforts. He even established a scholarship program that granted underprivileged students educational aid to fulfill their dreams of attending an elite Catholic High School. To further this mission, he served as Chairman for that scholarship program from 1996-2013.
At St. Francis College, however, Joe has consistently devoted his greatest time and philanthropic attention since 1980. Leveraging his enthusiasm for golf, he has served as co-chair of the Brendan J. Dugan '68 Memorial Meadow Brook Golf Outing for 25 years. Joe has provided leadership to Class of '70 Golden Anniversary events and class gift. He personifies the words, "it is in giving that we receive." The Terriers that follow Joe have been blessed by his largesse.
Joe's service has also extended to his community of Armonk, New York. There, in the Byram Hills School District, he facilitated fundraising efforts to further their educational enhancements. While serving as the Chairman of the Park and Recreational Board for North Castle, Joseph also helped improve the quality of the sports fields and programs. In that capacity, he and his family were instrumental in saving the North Castle Town Pool. By reorganizing the business and community at the North Castle Pool, all of the town's residents benefited with a place for families and neighbors to spend their summers together while cooling off.
Lastly, and most importantly, he is a family man through and through. Whether it be taking his grandkids to Yankee games or playing golf with his son and grandson, spending time in Manhattan with his four adult children at the New York Athletic Club or walking his two hounds Teddy and Cowboy with his wife Marie. Joseph is always there for his family as he is for anyone in need of help.
Although Joe lives in Armonk with his wife Marie and daughters Katie and Gina, if he was asked where his home is, he would undoubtedly declare "Brooklyn!"
Lu-Shawn M. Thompson
Lu-Shawn M. Thompson is a native New Yorker that has spent the majority of her life in service to others. She began her career as Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency/Trauma Care at New Presbyterian Hospital. It was during this time that she honed her skills in problem solving, communication, empathy, and attention to detail. In fact, the abilities she developed as a nurse still continue to serve her well.
From an early age, Lu-Shawn has always had a heart for people. Her nurturing spirit and commitment to public service has led her to be active in several prominent civic organizations. These include, Jack and Jill of America (Brooklyn Chapter), The Links, Inc. (Brooklyn Chapter), Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Delta Rho Omega Chapter), Mocha Moms, the Emergency Nurses Association, National Action Network, NAACP, and several other organizations. Lu-Shawn is also a leader and serves on the boards of 100 Suits for 100 Men, Arc of Justice, Black Institute, and Women's March.
Lu-Shawn was married to Kenneth P. Thompson, Sr. for 17 years until his untimely passing in 2016. Kenny was a devoted public servant who became the first African American District Attorney for the borough of Brooklyn. His commitment to social justice and criminal reform resulted in the exoneration of over 20 wrongfully convicted persons. Lu-Shawn has devoted herself to continuing her husband's legacy and the work he did with the formerly incarcerated and wrongfully convicted. And as such has aligned herself with organizations such as 100 Suits for 100 Men, the Innocence Project, and GOSO (Get Out Stay Out). These organizations provide support services which ultimately helps reduce the risk of recidivism and puts them on a career path that can help break the cycle of crime and poverty. Lu-Shawn is passionate about criminal justice reform and will continue to lend her time and resources to other organizations and specific causes related to this important matter. Also, her love of the arts and music has led her to become a producer on several Broadway plays. Most notably, she was a co-producer on the play American Son, starring Kerry Washington and Steven Pasquale.
Lu-Shawn resides in the Clinton Hill section of Brooklyn, New York with her two teenaged children. As was instilled in her, Lu-Shawn is raising her children to understand the importance of service and considers herself blessed to be in a position to serve and help others.
